The Walking Dead: The Final Season — Episode 2: Broken Toys
The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 2: Suffer the Children Walkthrough
A detailed walkthrough of the second episode of the game’s final season and all the possible options
The episode continues the story of Clementine and AJ started in Episode 1: Done Running.
After a lengthy intro and conversations with several characters (those do not matter), you can have a look around your room. Take a cup of coffee from the table, if you wish, look at AJ’s drawing on the wall. Then exit through the door and head to the funeral.
You will find yourself in the yard. Inspect the pool of blood, and then go to the so-called cemetery. Talk to everyone, including AJ in the room and Violet and Louis when they arrive. There is an important decision to be made — tell AJ to give his gun to Louis or to keep it to himself. Regardless, you will be on your way out.
At the end of this section, if you gave the gun to Louis, he will return it to AJ. Continue your conversation with the boy until you see Abel. Keep your distance. Even if you pushed the man onto the walkers in the first episode, he survives (by chopping off his hand). Try to kill Abel, and his partner appears. Soon, you will recognize a familiar woman — Lilly. Now is another important decision to make — accept her help or stand up by yourself.
A few seconds later Louis and Violet appear, and Clem must decide whether to shout her friends to run away, or tell Violet to shoot Lilly. In the latter case, Violet injures Lilly, and Abel hits Louis.
In any case, next up is running away from Lilly and Abel. Follow the QTEs. Kill three zombies, then four more. The second group will be more difficult. You will have to knock zombies out by pressing E, splitting the group into several parts. Kill the walkers only if there is no other nearby. When the third group appears, you will meet a stranger disguised as a walker. The scene ends.
Now you will have to pull three pellets from AJ’s belly. Do this by pressing the indicated keys. Talk to the stranger, a former member of the Whisperers group, and then decide if you want to take an apple from him or not.
Another walker appears, and James, your new pal, offers an alternative solution: kill the walker or distract him as James suggests.
In the end, there is another decision to make: have some sleep or stay awake.
After that, you and AJ return to school. Talk to the familiar characters, including Violet. You will have to tell her about your plan in detail, by clicking all the points on the map in any order. Clementine will choose to deal with the greenhouse.
When you are near the greenhouse and in control, do not rush to follow Mitch. Turn around and find a boar skull on the ground near the grass.
Walk around the corner and try to see something through the misted window. Then talk to Mitch. Head back and talk to Ruby. There is a ruined ladder to the right of Mitch. Look up to interact with it.
Climb up and jump into the greenhouse through the window. Pick up the knife from the shelf on the side, kill the first zombie, and then deal with the other two. You will have to knock one down by hitting his leg (press E) and kill the other one. When you are in control again, take the mushroom from the bed to the left of Ruby. Take the trowel from the planter bed with yellow flowers. Find shears on the shelf in the corner left of Mitch. He will take those if you try to pick them up.
To the left of the entrance, there is a pry bar on the rack. Optionally, look at the shovel and the lawnmower, and talk to both characters. You can even try to eat the mushroom. Finally, head to the cabinet and pry it open.
Now go to the lab door (you have to move the metal rack). Once inside, talk to Ruby about Ms. Martin.
You can talk to Ruby again once you are in control. Head to the shelves behind her. There will be some test tubes on one of them, and igniter on the one on the right (below). This is the first part you need to make a bomb. On the bed to the right of the shelves, there will be a venus flytrap plant. You can take it as well. Talk to Mitch if you will like it, go over some lab stuff on the table, and find the propane tank in the bottom drawer.
Finally, you will have to decide what to do with Ms. Martin — bury her like Ruby wants or burn the body as Mitch suggests.
After you are in your room again, talk to AJ and Louis. Then, if you found those items, place the venus flytrap on the table, the mushroom and the boar skull on the shelves to the left of Clementine’s bed. Look over the three t-shirts on the table and choose the one you like. Now blow out the candle to go to sleep.
In two weeks, Clementine and others are preparing their defenses. Our heroine wakes up after having a nightmare. Go out and follow the horse through the corridor. Talk to AJ, so he goes back to sleep.
In the yard, you can go to the cemetery, pet Rosie and look over the graves. Help Mitch, who is sitting at the table and then talk to Louis. Shoot a bow a few times to complete your training. Flip over the table at the gates and examine the walls nearby. Talk to AJ and Tenn to finish the task.
Soon, Violet appears. Talk to her, and when Aasim and the other boy arrive, decide whose idea to support, by setting a trap with bricks or the log. Then you will have to play another game of truth or date. Choose answers as you see fit, but note that some of them will affect your relations with various characters. After that, decide who to follow — Violet or Louis.
By following Violet, you will go to the old bell tower, while Louis needs your help with his piano. If you go with Violet, prepare to climb atop the bell tower and assign three constellations — fish, knife, and bird. It is not hard to figure them out, as the next star is always highlighted. Finally, you will be able to open up about your feelings, telling Violet if you are only friends or something more, and even kissing her.
When in patrol with AJ, you have some time to chat about different topics. Then you need to decide and either agree to play rock-paper-scissors or stand your ground. In a few moments, enemies will appear and you will have to defend the school and make several simple and unimportant decisions. In the end, everyone will hide inside the school. By the way, you will not be able to save Mitch regardless of your choices.
Cut the rope, push down the sofa and fight Abel. Time for the most important decision: to save Violet or Louis.
One of them will be captured (along with Aasim and Omar). Now you will need to clear the yard by killing two groups of walkers using your bow. Do not forget that walkers appear both on the left and right sides.
Watch the final cut-scene, which will mark the end of the second episode.
