How to Make Money in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire

Three quick and legal sources of copper in the game that will make you richer in an almost effortless way

Copper serves as currency in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. With this currency, you can buy weapons, armor, ships and guns. It is also used to pay for education. At the beginning of the game, you’ll be constantly short of copper, so our guide shows main copper acquisition methods.

Method 1 (the best one) — collect everything you see

This method is viable because the capacity of the general inventory is not limited. You can collect all items that you see and sell them to the nearby merchant. Compared to the Divinity Original Sin series, Deadfire Archipelago merchants have unlimited cash. They can buy everything you have collected. Keep in mind that the sales price is five times lower than the buy price for the same item.

To get the best discount from the merchant, sell him as many items as you can.

Method 2 (addition to the first one)

Theft is a great addition to the first method. If theft is possible in the game, you should use it. Many locations contain items that you can get without theft. If the cursor does not turn into a “mask” when you point to an item, you can pick up this item without theft. If you can see the «mask», you can steal the item.

Here’s what I’d like to highlight:

  • When you are stealing, make sure that no one sees you or you can be caught;
  • Stolen items can be sold to the nearby merchant, they are not highlighted in any way (similar to the Divinity Original Sin series).

Method 3 – quests

You can get a significant amount of copper for the completion of «Wanted» quests. Read our articles on side quests in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. We have described all side quests (don’t forget to flip content in the left column). Also, you can get certain items for the completion of side quests and later sell these items to merchants.
