Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Side Quests Walkthrough: Pirate Islands
In this article, we will analyze side quests that can be found on the territory of Keos, Lestris and Seriphos islands in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Quests are listed in the order of their appearance.
A Chest Full of Drachmae
- Location: Keos
- Given by: Xenia
- Reward: experience points, money, rare axe
If you tell Xenia that you are short of money to buy information during the quest Island Of Misfortune, the queen of local pirates will tell Alexios/Kassandra to visit a fort on the far side of the island – allegedly, you can find many drachmas there.
Indeed, a chest with the local treasury can be found in Koressia fort in the south-west of Keos. Be careful: if you do not weaken this region before you go on this mission, you’ll face the local leader with his high-level team on the territory of the fortress, which can greatly complicate the walkthrough.
Try to get close to the treasure chest without attracting attention. The easiest way to do this is to penetrate the fortress from the side of the sea – there are fewer guards there – at night or by the fortress wall. It is patrolled by several soldiers, but it is situated near the place where your target is.
Also, you have an option to raise alarm, break into the treasury, take the contents of the chest and run away. Keep in mind that you will need a few seconds to rob the treasury, and your character will stand still during this time. So, pick the moment for robbery with this peculiarity in mind.
When the chest is robbed, the mission will automatically end, and you will get a few thousand drachmas and experience points.
We’re Not Thieves
- Location: Keos
- Given by: Obelia
- Reward: experience points, money, rare mace
In the port of Koressia, you can find a pirate named Obelia. She wanted to find a treasure for Xenia, but the tablet with the map was stolen. The catch here is that this was done by the exiled ruler of the place with which pirates currently have a truce. So, someone who does not belong to Xenia’s brigade needs to do the job.
Once you agree to take on the assignment, go to the Poiessa village that is located in the east of Keos – there, you’ll find the house of the leader who has stolen the tablet. It turns out that the thief was in a hurry and left the valuable item in an open, and, most importantly, the unprotected top floor of the building.
Approach the building from the side of the rocks – in this case, you will not encounter any resistance on the way to the tablet – and climb up the wall. Having picked up the map from the floor, descend to the village using the same way (in order not to alert the guards) and find Obelia’s friend.
Instead of him, you’ll find the pirate herself. Even if you do not demand the reward from her, you will still get it at the end of the conversation. You’ll also be offered another side task.
We’re Treasure Hunters
- Location: Keos
- Given by: Obelia after the completion of the quest We’re Not Thieves
- Reward: experience points
After you return the map to Obelia, the pirate will ask Alexios/Kassandra to find the treasure. Fortunately, you will not have to go far – the artefact is stored in the flooded Mycenaean ruins near the southern coast of Keos.
Having arrived at the site – choose Adrestia or any other boat in a normal condition – use Ikaros and mark all sharks that are hiding in the water. Before you dive, we advise using your bow to shoot the predators so that no one bothers you in conditions of lack of oxygen.
Once underwater, descend to the lowest level of the flooded temple. For this, you will have to swim through the hole in the roof, and a hole in the floor at a lower level. Try not to get stuck anywhere as the volume of hero’s lungs is not indefinite and the excess of fluid in the body has an extremely negative effect on health.
Return to the surface with the artefact in hands – Obelia’s pirate ship will be ‘’parked’’ in the nearby. Once onboard, talk to the captain. It turns out that she did not plan to pay for your work. You have a couple of options:
- ‘’Take the treasure’’. The hero gives the artefact to Obelia and leaves with empty hands but alive.
- ‘’I don’t have the treasure’’. Obelia will not believe the protagonist and will decide to search his corpse. In other words, you will face the whole crew of the ship.
- ‘’You’re dead’’. Aggression towards Obelia leads to the same consequences as the lie.
In the first case, the quest will end with the conversation. In the two other cases, you do not have to kill the whole crew. To complete the mission, you need to kill the pirate-cheater and then to safely swim away.
- Location: Keos
- Given by: steward
- Reward: experience points, money, rare dagger, theme for the ship
A confident-looking one-eyed man stands on the deck of a ship under construction in the port of Koressia. This is a steward, and he wants to show the ships that invade Keos who is the master of the island. You need to sink two Athenian, two Spartan and two pirate triremes in Keos region.
This should be done exclusively under Keos flag and colors. Go to Adrestia menu and get the new color for the ship. Next, go the nearest harbor, call the ship and go out to the open sea.
It is easy to tell one faction from the other: Athenians – blue sails, Spartans – red sails, pirates – dark gray/black sails. Many suitable ships are sailing near the island. To facilitate your mission, choose the smallest triremes as they are the weakest ones.
Also, avoid mass battles – even if your Adrestia is upgraded, you can easily lose count of ‘’health’’ points and go to the bottom of the sea. Do not forget that you should not sink white and golden sails. In Odyssey, they belong to merchants and mercenaries respectively.
One more detail: the destruction of ships that did not initially attack Adrestia – Athenian or Spartan – will increase your ‘’wanted’’ level. So, you will either have to use your bribing skills or look around often in search of bounty hunters.
As for the battles themselves, start them with a ram because enemy captains are unaware of your intentions. Break the immobilized vessels in half (just accelerate and crush into them) to avoid boarding and speed up the whole process.
Having sunk the required number of ships, return to the steward for the reward. Unlike Obelia, he will be honest and will give you the Keos theme for the ship in addition to experience points, money and the rare dagger.
Red in Wreckage
- Location: Keos
- Given by: civilians
- Reward: experience points, money, miltos, rare boots
While working along Koressia docks, you can overhear the dialogue between two pirates who discuss how one of the local captains sank his own ship full of precious miltos. The hero will offer his help in getting the precious cargo out of the water. Even if sailors tell nothing to the protagonist, you will still get the quest.
Board the Adrestia and head to the south to the island of Lestris where the ship of captain Gotarzes is located. Once on the shore near the wreckage, pay attention to the side task icon in the nearby – we will later return to it – and open the first chest with miltos. The remaining five are located under water.
Jump to the sea and dive into depths – sharks are swimming around, but if you swim from box to box they won’t touch you.
Here’s where the chests are:
Note: you should act fast because the amount of oxygen that the hero has is limited.
As soon as the contents of the final chest will be in your pocket, the mission will come to an end. Once you return to Koressia or any other ancient Greek town that has a blacksmith, you will be able to sell each unit of miltos for 2500 drachmas.
Lost and Found
- Location: Lestris
- Given by: captain Gotarzes
- Reward: experience points, money, rare breastplate
Once you have done your job in the quest Red In Wreckage, do not hesitate to climb a small island Lestris, where a disgruntled team of pirates is preparing to kill their poor captain for a mistake that led to the elimination of two ships.
Intervene and offer your help to Gotarzes. Desperate pirates will not give up and will engage in a fight, so you will have to kill them. There are only four of them, but each one knows how to cover his blade with poison so dodge, parry and use the skill Second Wind.
At the end of the fight, talk to Gotarzes and take him onboard Adrestia. All that you will have to do Is to safely bring the ship to Koressia. On the shore, the captain will be met by his sister who is also the leader of local pirates – Xenia.
For his efforts, the hero will receive the legendary breastplate from Gotarzes in addition to thousands of experience points and money – even in the case you try refusing the renumeration that is due for saving Xenia’s brother.
- Location: Seriphos
- Given by: Chloe
- Reward: experience points, money, rare helmet
A small girl plays with clay in the middle of the bright-orange massive on the island of Seriphos that is located to the south from Keos. When asked what she does in the dirt, Chloe (that’s the name of the child) will answer that she is making something for her friends. There’s no one around, but the hero will still agree to find some ‘’goo-werry’’ for them.
She is talking about ‘’shiny stones’’ from the mines and pearls from the lagoon. Both ‘’deposits’’ are located in the nearby, but we will start with the nearest one. Move to the north until you find a location called Polydektes Lagoon. Standing on the rock, use your bow to kill the shark that swims in the water and then dive.
This is worth doing because you cannot interact with quest items during a battle and returning to Chloe without pearls is not an option. The first jewel lies before the descent to the underwater cave, while the second one is located near the cluster of glowing jellyfish.
Having collected both pearls, do not return to the surface the same way you used to get in – you’ll run out of oxygen. Instead, swim further to emerge outside the lagoon. The entrance to the abandoned mines is located right inside the village, to the west of the temple of Athena with a synchronization point at the top.
Once inside, pull out the torch – it will be much easier to detect the snakes in the shadows when the light is on. Reptiles die from a single shot from a bow, a throw or a hit of the torch. You can detect enemies from afar using the ability Sixth Sense from the Hunter skill branch.
In total, you need to find three baskets with stones in the mines. Each basket contains one shiny stone. Having reached a spacious room with a few ‘’corridors’’ leading to it, move to the north – along the way to the exit, Alexios/Kassandra will meet the required number of ‘’goo-werry’’.
Once you get out of the dark, move in the direction of the quest indicator. Chloe will wait for you on a cliff above the Polydektes Lagoon with her ‘’friends’’ – two pieces of clay. It turns out that the girl’s mother sailed away with pirates and returned with a fatal wound - before death, she advised her daughter to make friends.
Chloe’s social skills were sub-par, so she decided to make friends from the available material. If you play along the girl, Theo and Airla (these are the names of clay friends) will become a little more beautiful thanks to the jewels you obtained, but Chloe will stay in her solitude.
The alternative option is to tell the child the truth: friends are not made of clay, and she must go out and socialize. The girl will accuse the hero of misunderstanding her and will chase him away. Go to the cliff a couple of days after the events to see how Chloe plays with other kids. She won’t, however, talk to you – this is the child’s gratitude.
Heart of Stone
- Location: Seriphos
- Given by: Kallikleia
- Reward: experience points, money, rare staff
An unusually large crowd of women gathered at the entrance to a cave that is located in the south-west of the village of Poiessa. It turns out that local rich man, Aetios, want to choose a wife for himself, and Kallikleia hopes that she will be his choice. The woman wants to stand out among other contenders, and a witch will come to help her in this endeavor.
The witch offers to create a love potion that will make Kallikleia the most beautiful woman after she has consumed it. The potion is unique for each client, so the witch asks the misthios to run after two important ingredients – several mushrooms and a selected wine. Let’s go step by step.
A cargo of wild mushrooms has recently arrived at the warehouse located on the south side of the island. Your target is situated on the second floor of the building, next to the unlocked balcony. You can jump on this balcony from the nearby cliff. Once inside, go around the basket with vegetables, pick up the bag from the floor and quietly move away.
The situation with wine is more difficult. A couple of days ago, a ship carrying the drink crashed off the coast of Seriphos, but the surviving jugs were taken by pirates. Fortunately, they did not go too far – an improvised warehouse of alcoholic beverages is located in a small rocky niche next to the wreckage of the above-mentioned vessel.
The wine does not have too much ‘’guards’’ – just five – but archers (the nastiest enemy type) are among them. Deal with them stealthily before you proceed to other enemies. There’s no grass in the nearby, so the only option is an accurate and, preferably, devastating shot in the head.
Having cleared the beach from pirates, take the jug and return to the women. The witch lacks one more ingredient for the potion – you can try to escape from another request, but this time only a lock of hair is necessary (Kallikleia’s, not yours).
The ceremony (!) of choosing Aetios’ wife will be conducted the next night, so if you do not want to wander around for the whole day, just rewind time by holding the button that calls the game map. Descend to the mansion of the rich man – it is located in close proximity to the sea.
Once at the party, find Kallikleia. The woman has lost her hair completely – the potion did its job. When the ‘’witch’’ enters the conversation, she will state that she is Kallikleia’s competitor rather than a magician.
According to the ‘’witch’’ (by the way, Aetios has chosen her as his wife), she grew up together with the rich man and, unlike her competition, has real feelings towards him. Baldness was a side effect of the potion – the ‘’witch’’ counted only on rash all over Kallikleia’s face.
All that Alexios/Kassandra is interested in this drama is the reward. Technically, Kallikleia hired the misthios, but she has no money. There are several options:
- ‘’I will kill you, witch’’. The hero rushes to the ‘’witch’’, but the whole mansion will be against him.
- ‘’Guards, she’s a witch!’’ The hero accuses the ‘’witch’’ of witchcraft, and the guards kill her.
- ‘’The witch has a point’’. The hero recognizes the victory of the ‘’witch’’ and leaves – no one dies in this case.
In the first two cases, you need to kill the ‘’witch’’ or wait until she is killed by guards for the completion of the quest. In the last case, the mission will end together with the conversation. Regardless of your decision, you’ll get your reward – experience points, money and a rare stuff.
