Best Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate American Players Head to Global Tournament in Japan
Nintendo’s prestige Japan tournament is now international
A global Nintendo tournament, which kicks off on October 12 in Kyoto, Japan, will be the first time that Nintendo Live has invited players from any countries outside Japan to participate. This year, best American teams will compete in Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The top North American teams in these disciplines will be decided by upcoming online qualifying tournaments, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North American Online Open August 2019, which will take place on August 17, and the Splatoon 2 North American Online Open Summer 2019, which will be held on August 24 and 25.
The rules say that any legal resident of the US and Canada (excluding Quebec) who is at least 13 years old, and Mexico who is age 18+ can register in the tournament. For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the registration is open from August 4 through 17, while Splatoon 2 players can sign up from August 15 till 24.
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate qualifiers will take place on August 17, while the Splatoon 2 event will be held on August 24.
