Here’s what we’ve learned about the game:
- Need for Speed Heat is being developed by Ghost Games, the same studio that made Need for Speed: Rivals, Need for Speed (2015), and Need for Speed: Payback.
- The game takes place in a fictional Palm City inspired by Miami. It’s an open world.
- Heat tells a story about a rivalry between street racers and police. While daytime, players participate in legal races Speedhunters Showdown, where they can earn money for upgrades and new cars. When the night falls, it’s all about gaining reputation in illegal races — there, police cars enter the game as they try to bust street racers.
- The developers promise reach customization and upgrade systems that will "let the players explore themselves like never before". You can even customize your driver.
