XIII Remake Delayed Until 2020

Developers want to give their project a higher level of polish

Microids announced in a press release that XIII remake won’t be out in 2019 as was originally planned. A new release window for the game is just "2020".

François Coulon, Head of Production at Microids, explained their decision to delay the title:

This additional development time is needed to reach the level of polish we’re aiming for. The announcement was greeted by an overwhelming response from the community and we’ll make sure to deliver the best possible game to our fans.

In case you never heard about XIII before, check out a teaser of the remake below:

XIII is a first-person shooter that was originally published by Ubisoft back in 2003. The game tells a story about the famous Thirteen, accused of assassinating the President of the United States. The protagonist is suffering from amnesia. He is trying to find out anything about his past as he wakes up on Brighton beach with a key and a mysterious tattoo of the Roman numerals XIII on his collarbone. The game has 34 levels in total.

The remake is being developed by a small 30 people team from The Playmagic. The studio aims to modernize the graphics, sound, and animations. They also want to rework XIII’s gameplay mechanics while staying faithful to its original design.

No screenshots or actual gameplay footage of the remake were shown yet.
