Former Bioware Lead Artist Joins Insurgency Developer New World Interactive
Michael Grills will work on an unannounced project
In the new press-release, New World Interactive announced the hiring of BioWare veteran Michael Grills.
Jeremy Blum, founder and CEO, has commented on the news:
“We're taking on a new, unannounced project which requires stronger artistic vision and leadership than games we've worked on in the past. Michael is a great fit for what we have in mind, bringing lots of creativity, industry experience and strong leadership to the table. We're looking forward to having him on board and are very excited to see what he's able to help us accomplish in the future for this project and beyond.”
Grills has worked on more than 20 games across multiple genres, including Baldur's Gate, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights, and Jade Empire. In addition to art and creative direction, his skills also include UI/UX, Concept Art, Illustration, Story-boarding, level art, and branding.
Here are some of Michael’s most recent works:
Grills will primarily focus on an as-yet-unannounced new IP being developed by New World’s Canada gaming hub that currently has 36 people on its team. The studio plans to hire up to 15 more people until the end of the year. New World Interactive is currently looking for Head of Technology, Head of Marketing, Community Manager and Full Stack Game Programmer and others.
