Here’s what July has to offer: shooters in the Wolfenstein universe, official games based on Stranger Things and Kill la Kill anime, and Beyond: Two Souls on PC

Summer months rarely offer many interesting video games. July 2019 is no exception. Only fans of individual franchises will be satisfied. Two projects are released in the Wolfenstein universe. Youngblood is focused on cooperative walkthrough while Cyberpilot is a VR game. Both games continue the events of The New Colossus.

Stranger Things fans may try the official game based on the third season of the show. Kill la Kill is a fighting game for fans of anime and manga. Those who love colorful adventures with simple puzzles should pay attention to Lost Ember. If you play only on PC and haven’t yet tried Beyond: Two Souls, you now have a chance – the next interactive film by David Cage is released on PC on July 27.

Stranger Things 3: The Game

It is tailored towards teamwork with a human player in the cooperative mode. When you play alone, computer replaces your partner.

The game from EA Originals (Fe, A Way Out) which provides support for indie projects. Sea of Solitude is the new title by Jo-Mei, authors of the browser game Brave Little Beasties. The main character of the game, Kay, went on a surreal journey through the flooded town. The water level shows the inner state of the girl while the monsters are a reflection of her fears. You cannot fight with them – hiding or running away are the only options. Under certain conditions, Kay herself may turn into a monster.

Dr. Mario World

Games of Dr. Mario series did not change much from one part to another and always reminded Tetris with viruses and pills instead of figures. The gameplay is limited to the destruction of viruses of various colors with the help of the corresponding pills. The game is free but supports microtransactions. With real money, you can get access to additional characters or buy useful items that facilitate the walkthrough. You can play with friends in the competitive mode or send bonuses to each other. We’ll note that the previous Nintendo project for mobile phones, Super Mario Run, was downloaded more than 40 million times, setting a record on App Store. We’ll see whether the new mobile game from Nintendo can replicate the success of its predecessor.

The more time the players spend together, the more possibilities they have to interact with each other.

Dragon Quest Builders 2

As in the first part, Dragon Quest Builders 2 will make you search for resources, build castles and defend yourself against hordes of enemies among which you’ll find huge bosses. The game resembles Minecraft not only in concept but also in appearance – almost all objects are cubes of different colors. You can shift part of the construction work to the residents of the island if you find the necessary draft and provide them with resources. You should search for materials not only on the ground but also under the water and travel around the world on a hang glider. You can play in a cooperative mode designed for up to 4 players. Dragon Quest Builders 2 has already been released in Japan and will get to the rest of the world in July.

God Eater 3

For cooperative play, the game offers separate levels with especially strong bosses.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Youngblood is not a full-fledged new Wolfenstein but a cooperative spinoff. The action takes place 19 years after the events of The New Colossus, and you’ll play for daughters of BJ Blazkowicz who are trying to find their father in the Nazi-occupied Paris. Akana Studios, authors of Dishonored and Prey (2017), take part in the development, so open levels will appear in Youngblood. You’ll be able to play alone or in the cooperative mode.

Following Heavy Rain, another Sony exclusive is released on PC. Beyond: Two Souls is the most controversial game of David Cage that has only 72 points on Metacritic. She will have to work with the CIA, learn the terrible truth about the actions of the United States in other countries, hide from the police and the FBI, and save the world from the invasion of other ghosts. Main choices are mostly limited to the last chapter, but during the walkthrough you’ll also have to make decisions that impact the fate of secondary characters.
