Traditionally, fewer games are released in summer than in spring or autumn. June of 2019 cannot boast bullet-proof hits or games that we have been waiting for several years. Meanwhile, fans of many genres will find interesting titles in the first summer month.

Sony exclusives lose their status: Journey and Heavy Rain are released on PC. It was difficult to believe in such a move before but now it’s a reality. Soon, other games of Quantic Dream will reach personal computers.

Fans of the Yakuza series should pay attention to Judgment, in which we for the first time look at the Japanese mafia from the other side. The main character of The Sinking City will also investigate strange events – Howard Lovecraft fans should not miss this release.

Fans of Warhammer Fantasy universe should look at Diablo-like Chaosbane. Also, there’s a strategy game dedicated to operation ‘’Bagration’’ – Steel Division 2, and a spiritual heir of the classic CastlevaniaBloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Persona Q2 belongs to the JRPG genre. The game has already been released on Nintendo 3DS in Japan and will reach the rest of the world in June.

The developers wanted to increase the scale of the battles, so they have chosen one of the biggest combats in the history of mankind. Battles between Nazi Germany and USSR are shown much less frequently than battles in France of North Africa so here’s your chance if you want to fight for the Red Army.

Heavy Rain is a characteristic game for Sony consoles and the best-rated game of Quantic Dream. Soon, it will become available for PC. It’s a detective history with four protagonists which is based on the mystery of Origami Killer, a maniac who kidnaps and drowns his victims in rainwater. Even today, Heavy Rain impresses with its storyline and variability – the game has 18 different endings. The PC version will also please the players with advanced graphics – the era of soapy movies is over.

Judgment

An experimental spin-off of the Yakuza franchise in which for the first time we don’t see the world of Japanese organized crime through the eyes of the gangster. Instead, the main hero of the game is a private detective Takayuki Yagami who must investigate a series of brutal murders. The action takes place in the area of Kamurocho which is familiar to players thanks to the numbered parts of the series. Judgment has many investigations, search for evidence, surveillance of suspects and, obviously, street fights. A major scandal broke during the development of the game due to the arrest of actor Pierre Taki who was the face of one of the yakuza in the game. The appearance of this NPC had to be urgently changed.

Despite the lack of number in the title, this game is the twelfth in a series of fighting games dedicated to fantasy Japan. The developer of the game is SNK studio, the authors of King of Fighters. Samurai Shodown (in Japan – Samurai Spirits) differs from other representatives of the genre by the traditional Japanese flavor which is shown in every detail from the appearance of fighters and arenas to music and the characteristic voice of the commentator.

Monster Jam Steel Titans

An arcade race dedicated to monster trucks – powerful off-road vehicles with huge wheels. Games which feature these machines are rare – we can only remember the MotorStorm trilogy for PS3. The project is created under the license of Monster Jam, so all 25 cars and 12 tracks are copied from real prototypes. Each monster truck can be modified. In addition to usual racing circuits, the game will feature trick shows and arenas with interactive objects that can be destroyed. Unfortunately, there’s no multiplayer mode.

The Sinking City

This is a game based on the works of Howard Lovecraft from Frogwares, the authors of decent quests including Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. The studio participated in the development of the recent Call of Cthulhu, but the publisher eventually changed the team to Cyanide Studio. The work made for Call of Cthulhu became the basis for The Sinking City. Developers promise a dark atmosphere straight from the writer’s works, an interesting detective component and an open world for research. The game is different from modern horror games without weapons – you have a huge arsenal to fight the cultists, fishmen and other creatures of Lovecraft universe.

Super Mario Maker 2
