FromSoftware's VR Title Déraciné Gets New Gameplay Footage

Hidetaka Miyazaki's latest game allows players to manipulate time and space

The announcement of Déraciné took many gamers by surprise when it was revealed during E3 2018. It's for good reason as the latest game from Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki is quite different from the action role-playing games that he's known for. There was a lot of confusion surrounding the PlayStation VR exclusive due to only cinematic trailers being released, but the adventure game was in playable form at Tokyo Game Show 2018.

The footage showcases the core loop of the narrative-focused title. Players are cast in the role of playing a spirit that has been conjured by a young schoolgirl. It's up to them to help the girl make friends with other students. They'll also gain the ability to manipulate time, as players can find ways to impact the futures of the game's cast of characters.

Déraciné is just one of several titles that FromSoftware has in development at the moment. A Nintendo Switch port of Dark Souls is coming out later this year, and the studio has teamed up with Activision for a new action game called Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice, which is set to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in March 2019.

The footage of Déraciné looks far along and that's for good reason, the PlayStation VR exclusive is set to release November 6, 2018.
